Traffic delays returned to the Howard Frankland Bridge in Tampa Bay after multiple crashes disrupted southbound Interstate 275 on Wednesday morning, September 9, 2026.
According to reports, the Florida Highway Patrol responded to two separate crashes on the southbound side of I-275 near the Howard Frankland Bridge. One crash was reported near mile marker 33 at approximately 6:09 a.m., while another occurred near mile marker 37 around 6:07 a.m.
The incidents caused significant congestion for motorists traveling toward Pinellas County. At the height of the disruption, the trip across the bridge was reported to take about 65 minutes. Another report indicated that one crash blocked four left lanes near mile marker 33, while the second incident near mile marker 37 involved a motorcyclist and affected the express lanes.
